Have you noticed a slightly rough or gritty layer on your paintwork after its been washed? Those of us who regularly clean and detail our vehicles will have noticed it is particularly evident on horizontal panels such as the bonnet, boot lid and roof. It’s easy to simply write this off as dust that has landed from the air – We assure you that it is not. These are in fact airborne metallic particles, liberated from braking surfaces, such as pads and disks. These harmful particles literally fill the air along our roads and motorways, you may not be able to see them but they are there nonetheless, whenever a car brakes in front of you, it will create a cloud of warm particles that then cling and embed into your paintwork when you pass through it.

Bilt Hamber recently got in touch to tell us of some new and exciting products they added to their range. On the list was Bilt Hamber Double Speed-Wax, we had a quick read about the product and knew that it was something we had to stock, so here it is!
Double speed-wax is an easy to use last stage paste wax for the protection of highly finished automobile paint systems. The carnauba wax used provides a deep rich glossy, highly water repellent and detergent resistant film that provides an economic and superior alternative to costly paste waxes which simply do not compete performance wise with this material.
How to use:
Thoroughly wash vehicle with hot soapy water, only use salt-free automotive shampoos. Do not use wash and wax products. Dry vehicle using chamois leather, or synthetic equivalent.
Double speed-wax is not an abrasive polish, if your paintwork is faded, feels rough or has not been polished for a long period it will be necessary to use an abrasive polish and/or paint clay before application. Once prepared in this way regular application of double speed-wax will maintain a high gloss finish without the need for further use of abrasive polishes.
Work on shaded cool panels. Using the sponge applicator provided apply in light circular motions extremely sparingly and allow to dull for approx 5-10 minutes. Buff to a high shine using the blue micro fibre cloth provided – turn frequently.
Occasionally under certain humid application conditions the applied film may bloom after initial application and buffing. The bloom will disappear once the film is fully cured, or it can be removed immediately with a wipe down / buff with a slightly damp buffing cloth. This is a characteristic of the T1 carnauba wax used in the manufacture of this product.

Firstly, most of you won’t actually know what this stuff is. We’ve got to be honest, we didn’t until it landed in our warehouse. The simple truth is, Bilt Hamber Korrosol (1 Litre Trigger Spray) could work wonders for increasing the life span of your vehicle’s paintwork. Why? Because it’s designed to remove embedded metal particles in your paint. These metal flakes are from loads of different sources but the most common is from brake dust. Hot airborne metals, like brake dust fragments, really burn and burrow down into your vehicles paint surface just waiting to oxidise and start a spot of rust, in fact it’s one of the most common starting points of a “rust scab”, this stuff is designed to remove it and stop it in its tracks.
How long it takes:
Not long, about 30min approx.
We recommend doing it on a day that’s not scorching hot as you don’t want this stuff to dry.
What you’ll need:
- A bottle of Korrosol.
- Access to a hose or power washer.
- Wax or quick detailer for protection after you’re done.
DIY Walk Through:
Make sure your vehicle is ultra clean. This will just make the whole process easier and help the Korrosol get to work faster. Don’t use a combined wash and wax shampoo – something like Bilt Hamber Auto Wash is ideal.
