Are you the proud owner of a classic vehicle? If so, you will be aware of the effects of using modern fuel in your engine. More importantly, it will be the corrosive effects of ethanol that keeps you up at night, and the danger it poses to fuel systems on classic vehicles.
Not to fear, Opies have the answer, with a little help from the experts at Millers Oils…
Millers Oils EPS ethanol protection is a fuel treatment providing ethanol protection when using unleaded fuel. It is endorsed by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) to protect against the corrosion effects of ethanol in modern fuel.
This is recommended for rebuilt classic engines / vehicles with hardened valve seats previously requiring leaded fuel and now running on unleaded fuel and where an octane improver and lead replacement are not required.
You may ask “is ethanol really that damaging to the fuel system in my beloved Austin 7?” Well, the simple answer is yes, it most definitely is. The reason for this is that ethanol attacks rubber hoses and seals in fuel systems and metallic parts such as brass and zinc. It also attracts water which can cause corrosion and poor starting. Not a good combination when you’re planning on popping down the road to your local vintage rally this weekend. Have a look HERE.
These guys really know their stuff, and will only get involved with products and brands that they have the utmost confidence in. Here is a little quote from themselves to give you complete peace of mind that you’re using a top quality, and more importantly, beneficial product in your pride and joy:
“The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs is pleased to announce the results of its fuel stability additive test programme. This research was designed to test the anti corrosive properties of proprietary additives claiming to provide a high level of protection against potential corrosion of fuel systems, including tanks, pipework and fuel metering equipment on historic vehicles caused by the addition of ethanol into petrol. The research was designed to simulate storage in a vehicle’s fuel tank for a 12 month period”
Benefits of using this product include:
- Combats the adverse effects of ethanol in fuel
- Prevents fuel system corrosion/helps protect components
- Carburettor anti-icing formula
